She heard his car and ran to hide
From hubby dear, his name was Clyde
She smiled wide and showed her teeth
Eerie silence, shuffling feet
And then the opening of the door
Up she jumped across the floor
"Surprise!", she yelled and hugged him tight
"Happy Birthday, this is your night!"
Loud laughter, cheering he could hear
As friends and neighbors then appeared
Celebrating, showing love
To their good friend from ol' Red Bluff
"Let's party up, so where's the cake?"
The music blared, the house did shake
And fun was had for one and all
The birthday boy did have a ball!
